You can’t just take a horse off the track and expect it to be the most well behaved horse on earth. Every horse has a learning curve and as it turns out, Nimbus, the new Thoroughbred that Emily and her father acquired at the auction is barely more than green broke. Her Christmas Eve hack that was supposed to bring cookies and cheer to Esther and Hanna has ended with a trip to the hospital and a concussion.
On top of that, Emily’s father now wants to sell the horse but she knows that no one will buy him. His only hope is to stay at Second Chance farm and be rehabilitated but there are so many other horses to ride and show that Emily barely has the time. But it is a new year, a time for new beginnings and new goals. Emily is moving all her horses up a division so the competition will be harder than ever.
There are new shows to go to, tougher competitors to beat and the mystery of Jess and why she suddenly wants to be friends is hanging over Emily’s head. And with someone causing havoc at the show stables, Emily needs to find out if it is Jess on the warpath again behind her back or not. Plus, Patrick, the Irish guy she met at the last show, won’t stop calling and Jordan wants to know who he is. Emily doesn’t want any boys in her life and now she seems to have ended up with two. Can she keep them from finding out about each other while still managing her ever growing stable of horses? And will Nimbus find a permanent home at Second Chance Farm or will Emily’s father send him on his way?

I have gotten hooked on this series and at 39 books I am holding my breath that it keeps going
This was a great book. It had all the right details to make it super interesting. The cliff hanger was very smart to put in because it keeps you thinking about the next book and what is going to happen next. Thanks for another great book Claire!
I'm a 11 year old 6th grader and Claire Svendsen is my favorite author. Like James J Brinkman said the cliff hanger is an awesome idea. When the book was coming to a closing point the cliff hanger came I couldn't wait for the next book to come. I love her books! I also hope that in book #39 Jordan doesn't get his heart broken. He's an interesting character, you never know how Emily's and Jordan's relationship is going to turn out. I agree that Jordan is a great supplrt for Emily. I hope she doesn't leave Jordan for that other guy.
At the end of Winters Dream, Emily was riding her new horse, who she finally named Nimbus, to take Christmas cookies to Esther and Hanna. When Nimbus wanted to canter, Emily could not hold him back and decided to let him go. Soon, he was racing along like a Thoroughbred does, then something spooks him. Emily tried to bring him back under control. She almost had him when his hind legs slipped out from under him in the sand and they went for a tumble. Then everything went black...
Emily has a concussion — she was sent home with orders not to ride for a few days. Her father wants to sell Nimbus; can Emily convince him not to? Emily and Hanna are moving their horses up a level so the competition will be harder. Emily takes Four, Harold and Nimbus to a schooling show. Hanna is riding two of Esther's green horses and Jess shows up with two Appaloosas she is riding for someone else. Esther has a way of making the girls think for themselves. Everyone is "using the show to introduce some very green horses to the wide and wonderful world of show jumping". Someone does something mean to Esther's horses and everyone is mortified. Emily always wants people to think she is some kind of genius who could make a horse do anything she wanted. She has mixed results at the show...
The next show is an important rated show. Emily will take Bluebird, Arion and Winter; Hanna will take Hemi and Veruschka and probably another of Esther's horses. Emily and Hanna work and train hard for the two weeks leading up to the show. Emily's father has to take Falcon to the show in their trailer, so Winter has to stay behind. Faith is being bullied by other little girls and Emily gives her a pep talk with astonishing results. Someone returns something that stolen and tries to apologise on behalf of an employee. It is a good day for everyone until something mysterious happens...

Love these series books!!
I've read every book in this series and hope it goes on for a thousand more. I can hardly wait for the next one!
The story gets more and more exciting as Claire builds the excitement in her series of books and each GETS BETTER and better.
I enjoyed reading this book. I also like that I could read on my fire tablet.
